West Ham Make Bid for Southampton Captain as Rice Replacement
The ongoing transfer saga at West Ham United continues as they make a bid for Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, with hopes of filling the void left by the potential departure of Declan Rice.
The British media reported that West Ham, widely known as “The Hammers,” are keen on acquiring the services of Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, who currently holds the captain’s armband. This move comes amidst speculation of Rice’s move to Arsenal.
Ward-Prowse, a highly regarded and talented player, is seemingly on the brink of leaving Southampton after their relegation from the Premier League. Although West Ham is believed to be willing to pay £20m, Southampton is holding out for a fee of up to £40m for the 28-year-old’s signature.
Not only are West Ham eyeing Ward-Prowse, but they are also considering other midfield options. Among them are Dennis Zakaria, the Juventus midfielder, and Tyler Adams, the Leeds United USA National Team midfielder.
