MCMECHEN, W.Va. (WTRF) – McMechen Police didn't just get nice cool gifts from an 11 year old resident of age. Elliot Rybski's birthday was recently this year and instead of a toy, he asked for bulletproof vests for the officers within McMechen Police.

With the help of family and 10-42 tactical, Elliot was able to raise $ 4,000 and carry out his dream. “It's fantastic,” said Don DeWitt, Chief Police Officer McMechen. “It allows me to respect and care for people.”

For Elliot, the rewards were much greater than the sacrifice. “As I know now they will be safe,” said Rybski.

The four full-time MeMechen police officers received the new bulletproof vests.
