In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg, England’s Manchester City (Man City) and Liverpool took an advantage.
Liverpool beat Spain’s Villarreal, the Europa League champions last season, 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at home.
Liverpool were unable to break through Villarreal’s defense despite a unilateral attack, but in the second half, the opponent’s own goal and Sadio Mane’s additional goal gave the team a 2-0 victory.
Liverpool will play their second leg away from Spain on the 4th of next month.
The day before, Manchester City won the first leg at home against Real Madrid 4-3 after a brawl. On the 5th of next month, in the second leg of the away game to be held at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain, only a draw or more could be achieved in order to advance to the final.
The final will be held on May 29th at the Stade de France.
