[월간수소경제 박상우 기자] An event to discuss technology development strategies for liquid hydrogen carriers will be held in Busan.
Hydrogen Ship Technology Center of Pusan National University, Yonhap News, Bexco, Korea Science Federation Busan-Ulsan Society, and H2KOREA will hold the ‘3rd Hydrogen Ship Technology Forum’ at Bexco, Haeundae-gu, Busan on the 16th of next month .
The Hydrogen Ship Technology Forum was launched in 2020 as the largest professional technology advisory body in Korea dealing with the future technologies of the shipbuilding industry, such as technology development and international standardization of hydrogen ships, the next generation of eco-friendly ships.
This year, discussions specific to liquefied hydrogen carriers will be held under the theme ‘Hydrogen Shipping Technology Trends and Global Hydrogen Shipping Market Response Strategy’. The session is divided into three sections: △ liquid hydrogen transport vessel technology △ liquid hydrogen storage insulation technology △ research and development base and system.
First, Jang Gwang-pil, head of the Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Energy Technology Research Center, will give a keynote speech on the theme of ‘strategy for responding to the global hydrogen ship market’.
Following this, the Chief Executive of the Korean Shipping Register, Noh Gil-tae (Eco-friendly Shipping and Marine Research Institute), Managing Director of Korea Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Yu Byeong-yong (Energy Research Lab), Section Manager of Samsung Heavy Industries Bang Chang-seon (Eco-friendly Research Center), and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering senior manager Hwang Yun-shik (Ship and Ocean Research Institute), each for hydrogen ship technology, cargo hold optimization, transportation technology, and propulsion system technology .
Lim Seung-gyu, Research Director of Hankuk Carbon, and Go Jeong-yoon, Research Director of Dongsung Finetec, gave presentations on cryogenic insulation materials for liquid hydrogen storage Standard criteria and status, liquid hydrogen convergence graduate school, and liquid hydrogen insulation performance are presented evaluation facilities.
In the panel discussion chaired by Lee Je-myeong, professor of shipbuilding and marine engineering at Pusan National University (head of the Hydrogen Ship Technology Center), Song Hyeon-joo, director of shipbuilding and marine plant division at the Ministry of Commerce , Industry and Energy, Shin Chang-ho, director of the Future Industry Office in Busan City, Yoo Byung-yong, managing director of Korea Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, Lee Yeong-beom, managing director of Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, and Park Geon-il .Samsung Industries Heavy Industries Eco-friendly Research Center Director, Song Kang-hyeon, Korea Eco-Friendly Shipping Register and Marine Research Institute Director, Ryu Min-cheol, Korea Industrial Technology Evaluation Institute PD, etc. is engaged in active discussions to expand the liquefied hydrogen carrier market.
