Mammootty and Mohanlal have acted together in many films, but Harikrishnans directed Faasil stands first. The film was released in 1998 with Bollywood star Juhi Chawla in the female lead. Fazil said that Harikrishnan’s film was initially considered for one person and he decided to include Mammootty as well. Fazil was speaking in an interview with Movie Man Broadcast.
Once Anthony Perumbavoor came and asked if I could do a film for Pranavam Arts. It is Mohanlal’s company. So anyway, it should be done with Mohanlal. When Mohanlal’s company made a film for me, I suddenly thought of casting Mammootty, who had made many films for me.
It is a subject assigned to one. It was cut in two without hurting anyone. I know very well that I am a director who both behave very confidently. Don’t even listen to the story. Mohanlal will also say you are directing but I am ready, Mammootty will also say. Mohanlal and Mammootty felt that they will not be destroyed by me. So from start to finish there is no problem. He happily took it and left.
It was just an afterthought on my part. If I wanted, I could have done it with Mohanlal, not Mohanlal’s company. Or I can direct, I have a condition, I can say Mammootty is the hero. It was such a challenge that I felt it was such a challenge,’ said Fazil.
