Why doesn’t Windows support Apple M1: Microsoft and Qualcomm are secretly messing up! Exclusive agreement will expire | XFastest News

Did you know that Windows 11 does not support Apple’s M1 series processors? There are reasons for this.

Although Apple has provided support for Microsoft’s Windows system to run on the Intel chip version of the Mac, the new Mac equipped with the ARM-based M1 chip can only run macOS natively. This may be due to a special agreement between Microsoft and Qualcomm.

However, this agreement will soon expire, and Windows is expected to eventually run on M1 Mac machines.

According to the XDA Developer Forum, Qualcomm has reached an exclusive agreement with Microsoft to ensure that Qualcomm’s ARM chip is the only one that can provide native support for Windows. People familiar with the matter said that this agreement is about to expire, which means that Microsoft can license Windows to other ARM chip manufacturers.

Qualcomm was able to sign this exclusive agreement because the company helped Microsoft develop the ARM version of Windows. Now, other chip companies such as MediaTek also plan to develop ARM chips that support Windows.
