Balussery: Three persons, including her husband Tajuddin from Etericott, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Ummukulsu (31) at a rented house at Unnikulam Veeryamprath in Kozhikode. Apart from Tajuddin, Adityan Biju (19) and Joel George (19) from Tirur, Iringavoor, Malappuram were also arrested. The first accused Tajuddin was arrested from Malappuram Kolathur by Balussery Police Inspector MK. The group led by Suresh Kumar was arrested around 10.30 pm on Monday.
Two and three accused, Adityan Biju and Joel George, were earlier arrested. Adityan Biju and Joel are friends of Tajuddin. They were arrested for complicity in the murder. The post-mortem report stated that the girl died due to internal bleeding following the torture.
Tajuddin Umm Kulsu, a highly suspected suspect, was accompanied by two or three other accused when he was brutally beaten. Tajuddin and his family stayed at his friend Sirajuddin’s rented house for about a week. Umm Kulsu and her children were taken to Malappuram in a car last Friday.
Tajuddin was brutally tortured in a rented house and car in Malappuram, claiming that Umm Kulsu had a secret mobile phone. The second accused drove the car with the woman on her way back and forth from Veerampuram to Malappuram to find the phone.
According to police, Tajuddin had assaulted the woman in the car at the time and two other accused had assisted her. In the evening, Tajuddin took the girl to Sirajuddin’s house in a critical condition. He escaped by leaving his two children with him on the road. Sirajuddin rushed the girl to the hospital but she died on the way.
Umm Kulsu was at home after breaking up with Tajuddin. It was common to harass a young woman on suspicion. He came home a month ago and took them away. Adityan Biju and Joel George, who were produced in court, were remanded.
