There is an observation that the US may change the vaccination completion standard for the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) vaccine to three times, including a booster shot.

Although some countries, such as Europe, are already predicting that such measures will be taken, some in the United States are being cautious, so it seems that the exact decision remains to be seen.

Former US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) director Scott Gottlieb appeared on CBS’s ‘Face the Nation’ on the 21st (local time) and predicted that the US health authorities may set the standard for complete vaccination three times.

Currently, Pfizer-Bio&Tech and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines have been inoculated twice.

However, on the 19th, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended a third booster dose for all adults 18 years of age or older. This is because even those who have completed the second vaccination will lose their immunity over time.

According to the CDC, people six months after receiving two doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines can get a booster shot.

In response, former Director Gottlieb predicted that the health authorities would one day push for a plan to recognize only those who received the third dose, including booster shots, as fully vaccinated.

He predicted, “It won’t be this year, but eventually, the standard for the corona vaccine will change to three doses.

But he predicted that it would be difficult for the CDC to go ahead with such a plan right away.

This is because there is a debate in the medical community over whether the third dose is necessary for young people, who have a relatively low risk of infection compared to the elderly.
