The confrontation between the new and old powers over the ‘Yongsan Era’ advocated by President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol has been resolved for now.

After the meeting between President Moon Jae-in and President-elect Yoon at the Blue House cleared the chill, attention is focused on working-level discussions.

<김은혜 / 당선인 대변인> “I understood that President Moon Jae-in also mentioned this part and expressed his intention to cooperate.”

It is expected that practical actions for the preliminary budget decision will be busy right away.

First of all, the elected side is promoting a speedy relocation while still maintaining the position that the Blue House will not be used for a day.

To this end, the priority task is to decide on the relevant reserve funds at the State Council meeting.

At the meeting, President Moon said about the relocation of the presidential office, “The decision on the relocation region is up to the next government, and the government will closely monitor and cooperate with the budget according to the exact relocation plan.”

Regarding President-elect Yoon’s failure to keep his promise to relocate to Gwanghwamun, an official from President-elect Yoon’s side explained that President Moon expressed sympathy, saying that it was difficult even though he tried to relocate to Gwanghwamun.

<장제원 / 당선인 비서실장> “I understood it as a statement of cooperation by sharing the timing and previous contents in practice.”

However, with respect to President Moon’s remarks that he will look closely, the Blue House explains that it is still intended to look into concerns about a security gap due to the tightness of the previous time.

In the future, if the Blue House judges that the security gap has not been resolved with respect to the measures proposed by the elected party, there will inevitably be another rupture.

After receiving a report on the plan for the relocation plan from the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the elected party is expected to conduct an on-site inspection and discuss the budget with the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.

The ability to coordinate between the Blue House and the transition committee over the transfer of the presidential office is expected to affect the handover of other parts of the government.
