Apple plans to produce 25% of all iPhone production in India.

According to CNBC, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, said on the 23rd (local time) that “Apple plans to produce 25% of iPhones in India.” If I’m not mistaken, they (Apple) are looking at increasing production to 25% of total production.”

Apple declined to comment.

Apple started assembling the iPhone 14 in India last year. This is the first time that Apple is manufacturing its latest model in India. Apple has been manufacturing iPhones in India since 2017, but mostly older models.

JP Morgan analysts also predicted in their last analysis report, “By 2025, Apple could produce 25% of the world’s iPhones in India.”

Apple has been looking to diversify production away from China, where it currently makes most of its iPhones. Last year, the world’s largest iPhone factory in Zhengzhou, China, operated by Taiwanese Foxconn, suffered production disruptions due to the outbreak of Corona 19 and protests by workers.
