However, in the first cumulative update KB5006674 for Win 11 released on the 13th, this situation did not occur even on PCs that did not meet the recommended conditions, and it is reported that the update was successful.
According to the Italian tech information site HTNovo, complete security fixes and .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 have been distributed to PCs that do not meet the requirements recommended by MS.
However, the MS side also stated in the above statement that “it may be” pending updates, “and did not make a definitive statement. You may not have intentionally attempted to truncate the user, but simply wanted to avoid the legal liability that could arise from a formal statement of support.
On the other hand, it has been reported that this update has made the operation worse, rather than improving it, depending on the environment. For example, if you install Windows 11 on a PC with a Ryzen processor, the performance will drop.
There are two issues that AMD has announced in this regard. This time, it is about one of them, “the latency of the L3 cache installed in the processor increases”.
According to TechPowerUp, which handles PC technical information and benchmarks, the L3 cache delay of Ryzen 7 2700X should have been about 10ns originally, but it has increased to 17ns in Windows 11. It is reported that it has reached 31.9ns in this update.
That said, the L3 cache issue will be addressed by MS next week. In addition, it is reported that AMD is currently working on another problem, “The function to preferentially allocate threads to the fastest core of the processor does not work”, and both fixes will be updated later this month. There are rumors that it will be offered.
There are a number of issues with the early versions of Windows 11, but all of them are quickly resolved by the companies involved, and I don’t think they’ll be protracted.
It was probably assumed that the MS side would be busy fixing bugs in the recommended environment in this way, and in order to reduce the burden, it is possible that the complaint was suppressed as “the deprecated environment may not be supported”. that’s right.
