Without Heung-Min Son, Tottenham lost 2-0 to Chelsea… Conte’s first league defeat

In the English Premier League, Tottenham suffered a loss in their first league match under Antonio Conte, in the absence of Son Heung-min.

Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-0 after conceding two goals in the second half of the 2021-2022 EPL Round 23 away match at Stamford Bridge in London, England.

Tottenham Hotspur, who had been unbeaten in 9 matches (6 wins, 3 draws) in the Premier League after Nunu Ispirito Santo resigned in early November last year due to poor performance and took over as manager Conte, fell to 7th place in the league.

Son Heung-min, who has been away from the start of this month due to a leg muscle injury, did not return to this match.

Heung-Min Son played the first leg of the Carabao Cup (League Cup) quarter-finals against Chelsea on the 6th and has not been able to play because of pain in the leg muscles from the next day.

Lebanon on the 27th, and Syria on February 1st, it seems difficult to join the national team, which will play the 7th and 8th rounds of the Asian final qualifying round for the Qatar World Cup.

In the absence of Son Heung-min, Tottenham Hotspur, with Harry Kane and Stevan Bergwein as starting strikers, played the first half 0-0, and two minutes into the second half, Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech scored the opening goal.

Callum Hudson-Odoi dribbled from the left flank, approaching the penalty arc and sending the ball to the other side, and Ziyech caught the ball from the right side of the penalty arc with his left foot and hit the left corner of the post.

The trajectory was so exquisite that even the goalkeeper could not use his hands.

In the 10th minute of the second half, Mason Mount’s left flank free kick followed by Chiago Silva’s header added a goal for Chelsea to escape, but Tottenham could not make up for a single goal.

Chelsea are in third place with 47 points after losing their last four league matches, one point behind second-placed Liverpool (48 points), who beat Crystal Palace 3-1 before this match.
