Lucknow: A woman police constable has been raped by her father-in-law, a police officer, in Uttar Pradesh. Muthalaq called the woman a husband and a police officer who knew about the abuse of his wife. A case has been registered against her husband Abid and father-in-law Nazir Ahmed in the incident.
The woman was raped last Wednesday night. Nasir Ahmed threatened not to divulge the information and threatened to kill him if he did. The frightened woman reported the incident to her husband, Abid, a police officer. When it became clear that his wife had been raped, he broke up with Muthalaq.
The woman, who was also a constable at a police station in Meerut, lodged a complaint with the police after her husband left her. She informed senior police officials about the rape and the information provided by her husband Muthalaq. She was married to Abid three years ago. According to the complaint, after this, the husband and wife harassed her by raising issues including dowry.
The complaint also states that she was subjected to harassment by her husband’s mother. Meerut SP Vineet Bhatnagar said a case has been registered against the woman, who is also a police officer. Nasir Ahmed is an officer in the PAC Reserve Police in Ghaziabad.
