Women In Africa calls for applications for the 3rd edition of WIA Young Leaders

Women In Africa is launching the third edition of the WIA Young Leaders 2023 program, developed in partnership with Dior, the investment bank Lazard in France, the main digital player in Africa Huawei Northern Africa, the audit and consulting firm KPMG France and the global multi-energy company TotalEnergies.

After two successful first editions, WIA and its patrons continue to support and highlight young African women leaders called to be emblematic actors in Africa’s economic growth.

This year, 10 laureates will benefit from a tailor-made training course whose themes will be linked to female leadership and the skills of tomorrow. They will be accompanied by renowned mentors and will have the opportunity to live an immersive experience thanks to a “business stay” in a world economic capital. This trip will allow them to access a high-level professional network, to be trained, to meet experts in their sectors and to benefit from high visibility at international events. The profiles vary: they are entrepreneurs, activists, scientists, leaders and have an impact in their community. Candidates must be between 25 and 40 years old, born in an African country or have parents born in an African country and demonstrate an interest in the development of the continent. Each profile will be examined according to specific criteria such as the excellence of their background, their achievements and their social ascension. The diversity of origins, backgrounds, experiences and commitments, not to mention leadership skills, will be at the heart of the selection process. Particular attention will be paid to candidates for “self-made” courses.

The selection process will take place in two stages. Initially, 12 finalists will be pre-selected for an interview in front of a jury made up of internationally renowned personalities. Then, the jury will select 10 young African leaders. The WIA Young Leaders program will be an opportunity to:
Be connected with top-level personalities and mentors such as CEOs, ministers, journalists, business and public figures, and accomplished entrepreneurs
· Be trained in board of directors, media training, career coaching and other personalized training
· Benefit from international media visibility.

This initiative is part of the fight for equal opportunities and allows the training of 10 young African women leaders by accompanying them in a qualitative way in their professional career and in their social ascent, so that they can fully exploit their potential.

“Success is possible thanks to the support received. The WIA Young Leaders program aims to identify and support dynamic young African women with the highest potential in all sectors. These young women will be equipped to be the next generation of high-impact African women,” said Hafsat Abiola, President of Women In Africa.

The call for applications is launched on Monday, March 20, 2023. All young African women who contribute to building a dynamic, innovative and inclusive Africa are invited to apply for the program through the WIA website: https:/ /wia-initiative.com/en/wia-young-leaders-2/

The deadline for submitting applications is April 21, 2023 at midnight (French time).
