The Korean women’s soccer team has secured a place in the quarterfinals with two consecutive wins in the group stage of the 2022 Asian Football Federation (AFC) Asian Cup.

On the 24th (Korean time), Korea played the second round of the Group C group stage against Myanmar at the Siri Sib Chhatrapati Sports Complex located in Pune, India.

Korea won 2-0 thanks to goals from Lee Geum-min and Ji So-yeon in the second half. With this, South Korea got 6 points with 2 wins. Confirmed to advance to the quarterfinals.

Korea will play the final group match against Japan on the 27th for the first place in the group. However, the result of the match against Japan is irrelevant to whether or not they advance to the quarterfinals.

The top two teams with the best results out of the first, second and third place teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals. Previously, China in Group A was also confirmed to advance to the quarterfinals early with two consecutive wins (6 points).

Korea showed a frustrating appearance as they could not score in the first half, but they took a lead at the start of the second half. In the 5th minute of the second half, Lee Geum-min opened the goal for Myanmar with the help of Jo So-hyun.

Then, in the 39th minute of the second half, Ji So-yeon made the second goal by headering Kim Hye-ri’s cross from the right flank. Ji So-yeon’s 3rd goal in this tournament.

After that, Korea tried to score an additional goal, but due to poor pass accuracy, no more goals were scored, and the match ended 2-0.
