The police, who are investigating a case in which an employee of Woori Bank embezzled 61.4 billion won from the company, are tracking the flow of money after finding a clue that part of the embezzlement money flowed into the business of the employee’s younger brother.

The police are continuing the investigation while arresting the employee and his brother, and it is said that they are looking at the facts by securing the employee’s statement that the money invested in his brother’s business was lost.

According to the police on the 29th, Woori Bank employee A, who was urgently arrested on charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (Special Law) It is known that he made a statement to the effect that he invested in his brother’s business, but it did not go well.

The police are said to have secured a record of money transferred from Mr. A’s account to his brother’s account.

Mr. A’s brother visited the police station around 2 am the day before, but was taken home after refusing to make any statements, and was urgently arrested at the place where he returned to resume the investigation. It was confirmed that Mr. A’s younger brother was not an employee of Woori Bank.

Mr. A, a deputy general manager who has served at Woori Bank for over 10 years, was in the corporate improvement department at the time of the embezzlement. Most of the embezzlement money was found to be a contract deposit that Woori Bank had to return to the Iranian home appliance company Entekhab, which had participated in the sale of the former Daewoo Electronics.

In addition to Mr. A’s statement, the police are tracking the whereabouts of the money and where the money is being used by analyzing related data such as accounts from various angles. Any remaining money from the embezzlement will be confiscated and collected.

The police will apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A during the day, and Mr. A’s younger brother will also apply for an arrest warrant soon after the investigation is complete.
