Workers should not be given overtime for more than two hours a day: UAE advised

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has advised private sector workers not to work more than 2 hours a day. The Ministry of Human Resources and Indigenization has issued instructions in this regard. Under no circumstances should you work more than 144 hours in three weeks, including overtime. When giving extra work, the basic pay should be calculated and the extra pay should be paid. It is suggested that the amount should be not less than 25 per cent of the basic salary.

Officials demanded that working hours be adjusted by giving less work on other days if working overtime on any day other than shopping malls, hotels, canteens and security establishments. If overtime is paid between 10 pm and 4 am, the additional pay is not less than 50 per cent of the normal wage. However, those who work in shifts will not get the benefit.
