(Seoul = Yonhap News) Bae Jin-nam Correspondent = The 85th AIPS General Assembly will be held in May 2023 in Seoul.

According to the Korea Federation of Sports Journalists (Chairman Yang Jong-gu), AIPS held an executive committee meeting in Rome, Italy on the 3rd (Korea time) and chose Seoul as the location of next year’s general assembly by unanimous vote of the executive members.

As a result, Korea will host the 4th AIPS General Assembly following 1987, 2011 (above Seoul), and 2017 (Pyeongchang).

Initially, next year’s AIPS General Assembly was to be held in Crete, Greece. However, Greece declared withdrawal due to national circumstances, and Korea jumped to host the General Assembly in August at the urgent request of AIPS.

In addition to the experience of hosting the previous three general meetings, Korea received high scores in excellent sports infrastructure and was ultimately confirmed as the site of the AIPS General Assembly in 2023.

The AIPS General Assembly was created with the aim of strengthening cooperation among international sports journalists during the 1924 Paris Olympics.

We carry out activities to strengthen harmony and bond among sports reporters, and to improve the reporting and reporting environment. Around 300 people, including sports reporters and sports organizations from 130 countries, are expected to attend next year’s general meeting.
