World Athletics Championship | Passed the qualifying mark on the first throw; Neeraj Chopra in finals – News18 Malayalam

Eugene: India’s Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra in javelin throw in the final of the World Athletics Championships. Neeraj secured his place in the final by throwing 88.39m in Group A of the qualifying round on Friday. Neeraj cleared the qualifying mark of 83.50 meters in the very first throw.

Neeraj is third in the performances of the season with 89.94 meters. Andersen Peters of Granada is leading the way with a throw of 93.07m. Andersen is also the winner of the 2019 Doha Championship.

Czech Republic’s Jakub Wadlech (90.88m) is second. Germany’s Julian Weber (89.54) is fourth.

Last year in Tokyo, Neeraj Chopra won the gold with a throw of 87.58 meters and won the first medal for an Indian in athletics at the Olympics.
