— The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher on Friday (Aug. 13), with the Dow and S&P500 closing at record levels. And closed this week, rising for the second week in a row after gaining support from the rise of Walt Disney shares, but the New York Stock Exchange rose not much. Due to pressure from the release of the US Consumer Confidence Index that fell more than expected.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 35,515.38, up 15.53, or +0.04%, the S&P500 closed at 4,468.00, up 7.17, or +0.16%, and the Nasdaq closed at 14,822.90, up 6.64, or +0.04%.

— European stock markets closed higher on Friday (Aug 13), touching new highs again. It rose for the fourth week in a row amid sentiment about the strong earnings release of listed companies. and economic recovery after being affected by the COVID-19 epidemic

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index closed at 475.83, up 0.99, or +0.21%.

The French stock market CAC-40 closed at 6,896.04, up 13.57, or +0.20%, the German stock market DAX closed at 15,977.44, up 39.93, or +0.25%, and the FTSE 100 in London closed at 7,218.71, up 25.48, or so. +0.35%

WTI crude oil contract for delivery in September It was down 65 cents, or 0.9%, at $68.44 a barrel. but rose 0.2% this week.

Brent crude oil contract (BRENT) for delivery in Oct. It was down 72 cents, or 1%, at $70.59 a barrel and down 0.2% for the week.

— New York gold futures closed higher on Friday (Aug. 13), helped by the release of a more-than-expected drop in the U.S. Consumer Confidence Index. This encourages investors to buy gold contracts as a safe investment.

The COMEX (Commodity Exchange) gold contract will be delivered in December. It was up $26.4, or 1.51%, at $1,778.2 an ounce. and rose nearly 0.9% this week.

Silver metal contract delivered in September It was up 66.3 cents, or 2.87 percent, at $23.779 an ounce.

Platinum contract delivered in Oct. It was up $8.3, or 0.82%, to close at $1,026 an ounce.

Palladium contract delivered in September Up $32.60 or 1.2% to close at $2,656.50 an ounce.

— The US dollar weakened against the major currencies. In trading at the New York Stock Exchange on Friday (Aug. 13), the dollar came under pressure after a survey revealed that The US Consumer Confidence Index fell more than expected.

The dollar index, which measures the dollar’s movements against six major currencies in a basket of currencies, fell 0.55% to 92.5195 overnight.

The US dollar was lower against the yen to 109.58 yen from 110.46 yen, against the Swiss franc to 0.9152 franc from 0.9239, and the Canadian dollar. at 1.2517 CAD from 1.2527 CAD

The euro was higher against the dollar at $1.1794 from $1.1729, the pound rose to $1.3868 from $1.3800 and the Australian dollar rose to $0.373 from $0.7332.

The S&P500 New York Stock Exchange closed at 4,468.00, up 7.17, +0.16%.
