■ Comments from Takashi Suzuki, Head Coach of the Japan Women’s National Sevens Team (Sakura Sevens)

“Thank you for always supporting Sakura Sevens.

Under a lot of pressure, the players believed in their rugby and played hard. I think it’s a victory that everyone worked hard to win. We start from here, so we will work hard together as a team for the next step. Please keep supporting Sakura Sevens.”

■ Comments from Yume Hirano, Captain of the Japan Women’s National Sevens Team (Sakura Sevens)

“Thank you for all your support over the three days. Firstly, I am proud of my colleagues and staff who worked hard until the end. Thank you very much for your work.

The passion for this tournament, which was at stake for the core promotion to the World Series, was undoubtedly stronger than any other team. I think that the fact that I was able to put all that thought into the play on the ground led to the result of winning this time.

With this, I was finally able to stand on the starting line to compete with the world, so I will continue to grow from here! The Sevens World Cup will be held next month, so we will change our mindset and prepare well as a team. Thank you for your continued support.”
