According to the BBC on the 17th, Jimmy Donaldson took the first place in Forbes’s ‘World’s Top 10 Earnings of YouTube’ published by the American economic magazine Forbes. He surpassed 11-year-old toy YouTuber ‘Ryan Kaji’, who had taken the top spot in YouTube’s revenue for the past two years, to take the top spot.

Jimmy Donaldson earned $54 million from YouTube last year, more than the average salary of a Wall Street CEO.

Jimmy Donaldson is a YouTuber with over 87 million subscribers and is popular for his experiential content. In the past year, his YouTube videos have been viewed more than 10 billion times.

Last year, he borrowed a stadium that could accommodate 80,000 spectators and drew global attention by making Netflix’s Korean original series ‘Squid Game’ into a realistic version.

At that time, he made the content with a total production cost of 4 billion won, including a total prize money of 1.7 billion won and a set production cost of 2.3 billion won. At the site, 456 participants gathered and played a game, and the winner received a cash prize of 456,000 dollars (about 540 million won). In some courses, prize money was also given to those who were eliminated.

Meanwhile, YouTuber Jake Paul, who showed martial arts content, took the 2nd place in income last year. He made the list for the first time since 2018, earning $45 million last year. Nathan Graham’s ‘Unspeakable’, who posted a video of mining cryptocurrency for 10 years, earned $28.5 million and took fifth place. ‘Ryan Kaji’ was pushed down to 7th place.
