Xi Jinping: “Maintaining open country policies and unleashing market size and potential for domestic demand”

Video speech at the G20 summit… “We will strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights”

[베이징 신화=연합뉴스 자료사진] Chinese President Xi Jinping delivers a keynote speech at the 13th BRICS (Emerging Countries Economic Council) Summit held via video in Beijing, the capital of China, on September 9 (local time).

(Beijing = Yonhap News) Correspondent Cho Jun-hyung = Chinese President Xi Jinping (local time) said on the 30th (local time) that “China will continue its basic national policy of opening up to the outside world, demonstrating its superiority in the mega-market and domestic demand.”

According to China Central Television (CCTV), President Xi made this statement in a video lecture at the G20 summit in Rome, Italy.

“In order to provide a fair market order to Chinese and foreign companies, we will strive to open an ‘institutional’ with rules, regulations, management and standards, and continue to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights. It will create a commercial environment.”

“China’s development will provide more opportunities for each country and give more momentum to the world,” Xi said.

President Xi, who has not visited overseas since the beginning of last year, when the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) spread in earnest, participated in the meeting by way of a video speech without directly attending the meeting. Instead, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in charge of foreign affairs attended the site as President Xi’s ‘special representative’.
