Xi Jinping’s Godsend? “Invite Biden to Beijing Olympics”

Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to invite President Joe Biden to the Beijing Winter Olympics in February next year, CNBC reported on the 11th (local time).

The broadcast reported, citing two sources, that Xi could pull out a card personally inviting President Biden to the first US-China summit next week, citing two sources.

If the invitation actually takes place, CNBC predicts that Biden will be in an unfree position.

If the invitation is rejected, it is likely to act as a factor in cooling the bilateral relations, and if accepted in the opposite direction, it may be contrary to the Biden administration’s emphasis on democracy and human rights.

In fact, in the case of the G7 countries, the possibility of a ‘diplomatic boycott’ in which the athletes participate in the Beijing Olympics but the leaders do not attend is being discussed, and voices claiming the Beijing Olympics boycott are also growing in the United States.

Former US ambassador to the UN, Nicky Haley, and Republican Representative Mike Waltz (Florida) have also raised the need for a boycott.

However, the White House and the National Security Council (NSC) did not comment on the matter, CNBC reported.
