Yangju rushes to build Okjeong 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center

Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province, is rushing to build an administrative welfare center in Okjeong 2-dong.

In the second half of this year, Hoecheon 4-dong is divided into Okjeong 1 and 2-dong, because it is urgent to build an administrative welfare center in Okjeong 2-dong to respond to administrative demands after the weight loss.

According to the city on the 4th, an interim report on the feasibility and basic plan establishment of the Okjeong 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center was recently held and discussions were made on shortening the construction period and installing facilities for children and teenagers in the center.

At the meeting, Lee Chang-yeol, head of Hoecheon 4-dong, requested that the construction be hastened as there are many apartments, banks and schools near the site where the Administrative Welfare Center was built in Okjeong 2-dong.

Deputy Mayor Cheol-Wan Keum also ordered the department in charge to review consignment development so that citizens can use the center as soon as possible.

City officials also discussed a plan to install facilities for children and youth, such as a book cafe, in the administrative welfare center.

Mayor Kang Soo-hyun said, “There are many young people around the Okjeong 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center. Facilities for infants and young children and study and book cafes seem to be needed,” he said. “We need to plan the installation of facilities by reflecting citizens’ opinions.”

The city plans to reflect this in the construction plan in consultation with the contractor.

In preparation for the population of 100,000 at the end of next year, the city divides Hoecheon 4-dong into Okjeong 1 and 2-dong in the second half of this year.

Originally, it was intended to be divided into Hoecheon 4 and 5 dongs, but citizens’ opinions were accepted to match the names of the administrative dongs with the legal dongs (Okjeong-dong).

With Hoecheon-ro~Hoeamcheon~Okjeong/Yuljeong-dong as the boundary, the jurisdiction of Okjeong 1-dong was designated as the northern part of Hoeam/Yuljeong/Okjeong-dong.

In addition, the southern area of Okjeong-dong will be included in Okjeong 2-dong, which is scheduled to be newly built.

Accordingly, the existing Hoecheon 4-dong Administrative Welfare Center will change its name to Okjeong 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center after the division.

On the other hand, Okjeong 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center will be newly built. The construction location is 4859㎡ of land right next to Okbit Elementary School.
