Yangpyeong-gun Unexpected permission… Preferential treatment for Yoon Seok-yeol’s mother-in-law?

When the company of the mother-in-law of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s mother-in-law was promoting an urban development project in Yangpyeong 10 years ago, some suspects were found.

Although the project deadline set by Yangpyeong County was exceeded, the company continued the development project without any action, and Yangpyeong County, who confirmed this later, did not take issue with it.

An apartment complex in Gongheung District, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do.

It has 5 buildings and 350 households.

It was developed in July 2016 by a company owned by Choi’s family, the mother-in-law of former Attorney General Yoon Seok-yeol, and the Choi family.

The sales revenue confirmed by the audit report reached 80 billion won.

In July 2011, the plan of the Land and Housing Corporation, LH, to create rental housing in a nearby area was canceled due to opposition from Yangpyeong-gun.

Yangpyeong-gun approved the city development project for two years, from November 2012 to November 2014.

However, the completion of the apartment building was in July 2016, one year and eight months past the deadline.

If the original project is delayed beyond the authorization period, the project deadline should be extended in advance, but neither Choi’s company nor Yangpyeong-gun took any action.

Since November 2014, construction has been virtually unlicensed, and this problem has been solved in a more bizarre way.

Yangpyeong-gun announced the belated extension of the deadline in June 2016, a month before the completion of the apartment building, and it was applied retroactively to two years from November 2014.

This is the reason why allegations of preferential treatment are raised.

“At the time, the mayor of Yangpyeong took no action, but extended the permit retroactively before the completion of the construction. Preferential treatment is suspected, and a thorough investigation is necessary.”

An official from the Yangpyeong County Office explained through Kim Gyo-heung’s office, “It seems that there was an administrative error because it was the first urban development project.”

However, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the person in charge of Gyeonggi Province pointed out, “It is unusual for a development project to be canceled if the developer proceeds with the project without taking measures to extend the deadline even though the project deadline has expired.”

Senator Kim Seon-kyo, who was the governor of Yangpyeong at the time, and who now joined the Yun Seok-yeol camp, explained that he did not remember the extension of the business period because he was entrusted to the working-level staff.

Choi’s lawyer, Yoon’s mother-in-law, tried to call him several times, but was unable to reach him.
