On the 12th, the first weekend after taking office, People Power representative Kim Ki-hyun focused on appointments for on-call jobs.
While the pro-Yun faction (Seok-Yeol) is advanced, some non-Yun-related personnel are appointed to reflect the keynote of ‘Yeon Po-Tang (Unity, Inclusivity, Tangpyeong)’. The task is to establish party harmony and smooth relations between the party and the government and the opposition.
According to party officials, CEO Kim focused on selecting party positions while holding private meetings and phone calls with party personnel without an open schedule. CEO Kim asked the good people directly about their intention to receive. At the Supreme Council meeting on the 13th, the appointment plan will be decided.
It seems that pro-Yoon-gye will take the lead in Kim’s order. Representative Cheol-gyu Lee was appointed secretary general in charge of next year’s work-level elections, Park Seong-min as vice president of strategic planning, and Hyeon-jin Bae as vice president of organization. All of them are key lawmakers of the pro-Yoon faction.
The spokesman’s corps is known to include internal lawmakers Kang Min-guk and Yoo Sang-beom, and outside members of the hospital Kim Min-soo, former Gyeonggi Bundang-eul, Yoon Hee-seok, former Seoul party chairman Kang Dong-gap, and Kim Ye-ryung, former spokesman for presidential candidate Seok-yeol Yoon, election countermeasures committee. Former Chairman Kim Min-soo is a sidekick of former lawmaker Na Gyeong-won.
Representative Kim said that the fact that the leadership was evaluated as ‘all pro-yungye’ was taken into account when appointing the party. It is an explanation that he tried to revive the keynote ‘yeonpo-tang’ when appointing officers on duty. It is for this reason that Representative Yui-dong Yoo, who is close to former lawmaker Seung-min Yoo, was considered as a candidate for the supreme council member or chairman of the policy committee.
Representative Kim will meet with Ahn Cheol-soo, who failed the election, at a cafe in Yeouido on the 13th. A schedule to meet with Chun Ha-ram, Jeonnam Sunchun-gap, chairman of the party council, and Hwang Gyo-an, a former representative of the Korea Liberty Party (now People’s Power) is also being promoted. An official from Rep. Kim’s side said, “A schedule will be established sooner or later (with the party’s representative candidates).”
The rapid reorganization of the party is also a task for CEO Kim. Concerns that the ruling party will degenerate into the ‘Yeouido Branch of the President’s Office’ must be overcome while giving strength to the Yoon Seok-yeol government’s national policy.
On the 13th, CEO Kim will cooperate with the party government, such as a dinner between President Yoon Seok-yeol and the new leadership, a civil-party-political council on strengthening the transparency of trade union accounting, and an interview with the Prime Minister Han Deok -soo. The high party-government council, which had been suspended before the party convention, will soon resume its operation.
As a minority ruling party, it also faces the task of establishing a relationship with the massive opposition party. In order to overcome the difference in seats, it is necessary to win the battle of public opinion and at the same time get cooperation from the opposition party. Immediately after taking office, CEO Kim expressed his intention to meet with Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung as soon as possible, but there is an obstacle in the prosecution’s investigation of Lee. Regarding the death of the first chief of staff when he was the governor of Gyeonggi Province, the power of the people is facing Lee, claiming responsibility for the representative, and the Democratic Party claiming responsibility for the prosecution. Representative Kim said, “(CEO Lee) needs to carefully consider whether he is fit to perform his duties as a representative of the Democratic Party.”
The Democratic Party promotes so-called ‘double special prosecutors’, such as a special prosecutor (special prosecutor) for the ‘5 billion club’ related to the Daejang-dong suspicion and a special prosecutor for the President’s wife Yoon, Kim Gun-hee. The power of the people defines this as an attempt to turn public opinion. It is hoped that it will not be easy for CEO Kim to achieve legislative results for the livelihood of the people, breaking through the political situation of conflict between the opposition parties and the opposition parties, which is expected to become steeper. Representative Kim plans to meet with National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo, who is on a tour of Turkey, Italy and Israel, as soon as he returns to Korea on the 18th.
