“Yohji Yamamoto” praised the Yomiuri Giants uniform as “jet black”, and the players praised it, “I can’t be hit by wearing this” –WWDJAPAN

“YOHJI YAMAMOTO” designed the official uniform of the Yomiuri Giants, a professional baseball team. In “jet black” themed clothing and caps, the tops are embroidered with a cursive logo on the chest and white lines on the collar and sleeves. The cap embroidered the brand logo under the team logo. This is the first time in the history of professional baseball that the designer brand logo has been adopted in official uniforms. The caps were produced by the official supplier New Era, and the uniforms were produced by Mizuno.

The uniform will be worn by all players, managers and coaches in the three consecutive battles with Yokohama DeNA BayStars at Tokyo Dome from September 6th to 8th. During the period, uniforms will be distributed to the first 15,000 visitors and the stadium will be filled with black.

Giants pitcher Yuhei Takanashi, Naoki Yoshikawa, Kazuma Okamoto, and Taisei Ota will be on stage at the recital held at Tokyo Dome on July 5. Pitcher Ogita, who often wears black clothes in his private life, commented, “I’m happy that my favorite color is a uniform. I want to look good in play and shine with the uniform.” Pitcher Takanashi said, “I can’t be hit by wearing this. I’m always enthusiastic, but I’ll do it about three times as much.” Okamoto laughed, “It’s an insanely cool design, and I’m honored to be able to wear it. The black items look tight, so my play may look crisp.”

A special site was also released at the time of the recital, and a premium box (110,000 yen including tax) containing uniforms, caps, and limited stickers was released.
