The general strike of irregular school workers… “Like a student hostage” he pointed out

Following the Cargo Workers’ Union, irregular workers in charge of looking after and feeding schools went on a one-day general strike demanding higher wages.

There were also voices of dissatisfaction among parents as there were obstacles in the operation of school lunches and childcare classes.

The middle school cafeteria, which should be busy preparing lunch for students, is quiet.

Large cooking appliances have also stopped working.

Children receive bread and sandwiches on the lunch plate where they would normally place rice, soup, and side dishes.

“Two tangerines, one muffin…”

On the day of the general strike by food service cooks, one in four schools across the country replaced school meals with bread and milk or shorter classes.

About 21,000 people, or 12% of irregular school workers nationwide, participated in the strike, including not only food service workers but elementary school childcare workers as well.

They demand the abolition of wage discrimination with regular workers and the preparation of measures against industrial lung cancer accidents.

“I am giving a stern warning to the government and superintendents of education. If you do not respond to the call for strikes, we will be prepared to take part in long-term struggles, including strikes again.”

The strike also caused major difficulties in the operation of meal facilities and childcare classes in schools across the country.

Parents’ eyes are not good about the strike that continues every year.

“There are broken families and it can be a very valuable meal, but why don’t you try to find a compromise in a different direction instead of doing this by eating children…”

The strike was only for one day, but the temporary workers’ union of the schools is in a position to proceed with a strike in the new semester if the authorities do not comply with their demands.
