Lee Jae-myeong’s investigative network narrows… Is it possible to prove a ‘gun’?

The prosecution’s investigation targeting Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung continues.

Jeong Jin-sang, head of the Political Coordination Office of the party’s representative office, who is closest to him, refuses to testify during the prosecution’s investigation.

Attention is focused on whether the prosecution can prove the claim that Daejang-dong and Lee’s party formed a ‘community’ through money.

Prosecutors’ investigations into the suspicion of preferential treatment for the Daejang-dong development continue day after day.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office is tracking the accounts of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung and his family and looking into the possibility that money from the ‘Daejang-dong gang’ is involved.

Previously, ‘suspected corporate card misuse’ informant Kim Hye-gyeong is known to have reported that former Gyeonggi Provincial Office official Bae Mo brought a paper bag with cash from Lee’s home in June last year.

It overlaps with the time when Kim Yong-yong, the vice president of the Democratic Research Institute, who is close to him, is suspected of taking presidential election money from the former head of the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, Yoo Dong-gyu.

The prosecution is expected to investigate the accusations that Vice President Kim and Jeong Jin-, head of the political coordination office of the party’s representative office, received money from the Daejang-dong gang, as well as whether Lee was aware of it.

Lawyer Nam Wook, a private business owner, said that Daejang-dong’s side and Lee’s side were ‘chong-yu’, in other words, a relationship where money was shared for the same purpose.

If the money received by Chief Chung and Vice President Kim, who are assistants, is for Lee’s victory in the election, there is room to interpret as directly related to Lee.

This is also a point that links to the concept of ‘political community’ that the prosecution put in the search warrant for Chief Chung.

However, following Vice Director Kim, Chief Jung also exercised the right to refuse to make a statement with the intention of explaining at trial.

Kim Man-bae, who was singled out for telling Daejang-dong and his party that ‘CEO Lee’s share in Cheonhwa-dong is No. 1’, is also keeping his mouth shut.

Prosecutors plan to continue the investigation against Chief Chung first, and then indict him before the end of the detention period on the 11th of next month.
