The Vice Minister of the Workers’ Party of North Korea, Kim Yo-jong, issued a statement criticizing the United States for its decision to supply tanks to Ukraine.

He also made a clear pro-Russian line, saying he would always stand with the Russian army.

Kim Yeo-jung’s statement took direct aim at the US government’s announcement that it would provide tank support to Ukraine, which is at war with Russia.

“The support of US tanks is a clear stance against Russia, and there is a heart-wrenching desire to achieve the goal of hegemony,” he argued.

Regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he said, “The United States is exacerbating the regional situation,” and “strongly condemns the actions that are exacerbating the war situation.”

“The United States and Western countries that provide arms to Ukraine have no right to argue against a sovereign state’s right to self-defense,” he warned, “any weaponry will be burned to pieces before the strength of the Russian army.”

Vice Minister Kim did not refute the claim that North Korea provided weapons to the Wagner Group, a private Russian mercenary company.

At the same time, North Korea reaffirmed its pro-Russian line, saying, “We will always stand in the same trench as the Russian army.”

“In order to support Russian sovereignty, they justify providing arms support to Russia, and they promise to get the most benefit from strengthening military cooperation with Russia…”

It is about a month since the end of last year that the discussion of Vice President Kim, who is considered the second-in-command of North Korea, came out.

In the midst of this, Chairman Kim Jong-un has not appeared in public for nearly a month since New Year’s Day, so attention is being paid to his future actions.
