IAEA “North Korea Continues to Operate Yongbyon Uranium Enrichment Facility”
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said North Korea continues to operate a uranium enrichment facility at its Yongbyon nuclear facility in North Pyongan Province.
Secretary General Rafael Grosi reported to the IAEA Board of Directors on the 12th local time that “the 5 MW (megawatt) reactor at Yongbyon continues to operate”.
“The centrifugal separation and concentration facility is also in operation, and there are also signs that the floor area of the building has expanded by around a third,” he explained.
Regarding the Punggye-ri nuclear test site, which was destroyed by the denuclearization agreement between the United States and North Korea in 2018, he said, “I have confirmed indications that Tunnel 3 has been restored.” “The test site was still operational this summer.”
