The new and renewable energy business, which the Moon Jae-in government had driven, including the solar power business, was found to be in poor operation overall.

As a result of checking the implementation status of the ‘Electricity Industry Infrastructure Fund Project’, the government announced that it would request an investigation, saying that about KRW 260 billion in tax was being used inappropriately.

A solar panel is installed on the roof of a barn, this operator was given a false tax invoice of 150 million won and received a loan of 97 million won.

An unfair loan was made in such a way that the lessor, who was offered a public offer in advance, later canceled the tax invoice.

They evaded the Farmland Law and made a fake mushroom growing facility and got a loan.

The Government Policy Coordination Office said the solar power project, which the Moon Jae-in administration had put a lot of emphasis on by investing a staggering 12 trillion won, was being implemented poorly.

As a result of the first investigation into the implementation status of the electric power industry infrastructure fund project in 12 local governments, 2,267 illegal cases were discovered.

Of the KRW 2.1 trillion in the project cost, KRW 261.6 billion, which is close to 10%, was improperly used.

The current government explains that many cases of illegal solar power business have been identified.

“As the new and renewable energy policy is strongly driven, there are many cases of such insolvent implementation in the process of being finally implemented without time to prepare a solid business plan… “

As the government plans to expand the target of the investigation to the whole country, the scale of the corruption is expected to grow.

However, Prime Minister Han Deok-soo drew a line on the political expansion, saying it was “an investigation for institutional improvement.”

“It’s already started in 2021 or so. It has nothing to do with anything like this because a certain government has changed.”

The government intends to request an investigation in case of illegal cases and take steps to recover unfair subsidies.
