President Yoon Seok-yeol visited the Naval Academy Graduation and Commissioning Ceremony and said that in order to have true peace, a strong national defense must be supported.
He emphasized his overwhelming ability to punish and retaliate against the North Korean nuclear threat.

President Yoon Seok-yeol attended the graduation ceremony and installed the cadets of the 77th class of the Naval Academy as the commander-in-chief of the military.
First of all, I was fortunate that the security situation on the Korean Peninsula was more serious than ever.
He stressed that in order to protect liberal democracy and peace, above all else, a strong national defense must be supported.
“Only in this way can we build a true peace that protects our security through our own efforts, not a false peace that depends on the goodwill of the other party.”
President Yoon said he would strengthen extended deterrence by establishing a nuclear planning and action system between South Korea and the United States in the face of North Korea’s nuclear threat.
In addition to the establishment of a Korean-style three-axis system covering North Korean nuclear and missile detection, interception, and retaliation, the ROK-US joint exercises were also expanded.
“We will build overwhelming response capabilities and a retaliatory posture, including the Korean-style three-axis system. In addition, we will further strengthen ROK-US exercises and joint exercises to realize an alliance in action.”
President Yoon then inspected the Sejong the Great and the Dosan Anchang-ho, the core forces of the Korean three-axis system, and visited the Naval Special Warfare Group to encourage the troops.
On board the Dosan Anchang-ho, we also first-hand confirmed our military’s retaliatory strike capability through a demonstration of a submarine-launched ballistic missile launch and an SLBM vertical launch tube.
President Yoon repeatedly emphasized overwhelming punishment and retaliation against enemy attacks.
It is interpreted as sending a strong warning message to North Korea, which has been increasing the level of provocations recently.
