Sales of spirits such as whiskey and brandy outstrip soju sales in supermarkets

Sales of spirits in supermarkets have surpassed sales of soju.

E-Mart said that in January and February this year, sales of alcoholic beverages classified as whiskey, brandy, and rum were 3.6% higher than soju.

When soju sales in January and February were set at 100%, the share of spirits sales increased from 81.3% in 2021 to 95.8% last year, surpassing soju this year.

When E-Mart whiskey customers were analyzed by age group, those in their 30s or younger accounted for the most at 39.4%, followed by those in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.
