United States, daily cover for the president of Taiwan … “Meeting with the Speaker of the House is routine”

The US provides cover for Taiwan’s president who visits the country every day.

Following yesterday and today, a high-ranking official emphasized in an open briefing session that it was just practice, and that it was not up to China to overreact.

The President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen, who visited New York, USA, shakes hands with supporters who have been waiting for him with a glowing expression.

At the same time, protests against Chinese visits were also held near the hotel.

President Tsai stayed in New York for 48 hours and attended banquets hosted by Taiwan locally and events hosted by think tanks, but all schedules were private.

The US is just a transit route that is no different from the past, and he reiterated that there is no reason for China to overreact.

“All Taiwanese presidents have traveled through the United States. Tsai alone has traveled through the United States six times since taking office in 2016, each time without incident.”

China also rejected the meeting with Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, who is keen to take firm countermeasures, as is long-standing practice, saying there was nothing wrong with it.

“I have met officials as well as legislators before. It is no different to the practice in the past. It is just normal transit.”

The day before, the White House National Security Council’s Strategic Communications Coordinator, John Kirby, warned China not to use this transit as a pretext for an attack.

During President Tsai’s stay in New York, high-ranking officials provided reassurance through public briefings.

However, China insists that this visit is ‘travel’, but in reality it is an attempt to upgrade bilateral relations.

“We strongly condemn that the United States ignored China’s serious protests and repeated warnings and arranged for Tsai Ing-wen to cross the border and visit the United States.”

After visiting Guatemala and Belize, President Tsai plans to stop by LA again on the 5th of next month to meet with Speaker of the House McCarthy, so China’s backlash is expected to continue.
