President Moon “All countries need to increase vaccination rates… Korea plays a role in disseminating vaccines”

President Moon Jae-in, who attended the G20 summit, emphasized that a complete recovery of daily life can only be achieved by increasing vaccination rates in all countries.

In line with the goal of completing vaccination of 70% of the world’s population by 2022, South Korea also announced that it will strive to distribute the vaccine globally.

President Moon Jae-in, who attended the economic and health session on the first day of the G20 summit, pointed out the problem of the global vaccination gap.

He emphasized the need for equitable distribution of vaccines, saying that normal recovery is only possible when vaccination rates in all countries increase.

In line with the goal of ‘Complete vaccination of 70% of the world’s population by 2022’, Korea has also made it clear that it will play a role in global vaccine support.

He said that he would faithfully fulfill his pledge to donate $200 million to COVAX for the equitable distribution of vaccines, and continue to provide direct support to countries that lack vaccines.

President Moon said that policy coordination at the international level is also necessary for an inclusive recovery.

In particular, he emphasized the need to make more concrete support plans for low-income countries and to speed up the preparation of common norms to respond to the digital economy transition.

President Moon, who has emphasized that the only way to overcome the global crisis is through cooperation of the entire international community.

President Moon attends the climate change and sustainable development session on the second day of the G20 Summit today (31st) to explain the government’s commitment to carbon neutrality in 2050 and participate in the global supply chain meeting chaired by US President Joe Biden.
