North Korea launched another armed demonstration today (25th) by firing a short-range ballistic missile into the East Sea from the Taecheon area of North Pyongan Province.

This launch occurred shortly before a joint South Korea-US maritime exercise, in which a large number of US strategic assets are participating, and is evaluated as the repulsive nature of the exercise.

North Korea has resumed armed demonstrations by firing ballistic missiles, which is against the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

This short-range ballistic missile was launched from the Taecheon area of North Pyongan Province at around 6:53 am on the 25th into the East Sea.

The flight distance was about 600 km, the altitude was about 60 km, and the speed was about Mach 5, the military authorities analyzed.

It is assumed that the missile was launched on a vehicle-type mobile launcher (TEL).

Based on the specifications released so far, pressure is placed on the analysis of the North Korean version of the Iskander (KN-23) ballistic missile.

Kim Seung-gyeom, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, held a video conference with the head of the Joint Forces Command Lacamera shortly after the North Korean missile launch and shared the situation.

“We reaffirmed that we will further strengthen our combined defense posture against any threats and provocations from North Korea through the planned ROK-US joint maritime exercise.”

Some observers say this armed display raises the level of tension in North Korea, aware of the upcoming ROK-US joint naval exercise.

To participate in this exercise, US strategic assets such as the Ronald Reagan are deployed at the Busan Operating Center.

It is the first time in about five years, right after North Korea’s sixth nuclear test in 2017, that a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier from the United States has entered South Korea for joint training.

The participation of the US nuclear carrier Ronald Reagan in the East Sea exercise is meaningful to show that the US promise of extended deterrence is actually working.

The military authorities said the South Korea-US joint naval exercise “will proceed as planned,” regardless of North Korea’s recent launch.
