Yoon Jae-soon, secretary for general affairs, was twice disciplinary in the case of sexual assault when he was a prosecutor.

In a poetry book published in 2002 when he was an investigator at the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, he specifically wrote down scenes of sexual harassment in the subway, and described it as ‘freedom of mischievous boys’, sparking controversy over whether ‘the prosecutor’s investigator defended sexual crimes’.

In this regard, the party leadership made a public statement.

People’s Power Representative Lee Jun-seok pointed out the problems with the remarks, but said that it is something that needs to be done, citing the case of Moon Jae-in, former presidential secretary of the Blue House, Tak Hyun-min, making an apology to the public and getting to work.

“Considering the current standards that have changed over the past 20 years (the expressions of poetry), there is a big difference from the general public’s perspective. You will have to apologize to the people and go to work.”

However, contrary to Chairman Lee’s position, female lawmakers within the party said that the appointment of Yoon Jae-soon as secretary was inappropriate and delivered their opinion of ‘resignation’ to the party leadership.

“We gathered the opinions of female lawmakers and our opinions on Secretary Yoon Jae-soon were delivered.

The Democratic Party also emphasized, “It is appropriate to criticize Secretary Yoon for his wrong coming-of-age ceremony and have him resign,” and emphasized that it is “common sense of the people.”

“It’s absurd to say that it’s just a sloppy apology. It’s like CEO Lee Jun-seok who is generous with sexual issues. Does CEO Lee Jun-seok say that it’s okay to commit minor sexual crimes?”

In the midst of this, the Hankook Ilbo additionally reported internal testimony that Secretary Yoon frequently made inappropriate remarks to female employees while serving as the prosecution.

However, Secretary General Yoon Jae-soon did not express any particular position, and the presidential office did not provide any further explanation, saying that it was ‘a thing of the past’.
