‘You are too expensive for me’… Munich CEO Cannes requested amount beyond imagination, recruitment X

[마이데일리 = 김건호 기자]Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn (52) has insisted that Elling Haaland (21, Borussia Dortmund) is too expensive to sign.

Haaland is one of the most sought-after players for the next transfer window. Haaland’s £63m release clause will come into effect at the end of the season. Haaland’s current price set by Transfer Markt, a transfer market media outlet, is 135 million pounds (about 217 billion won). This is an opportunity to sign Haaland at a relatively low price.

There are currently big European clubs connected to Holland. Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested. Dortmund’s league rivals Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested in Haaland as a replacement for Roberto Lewandowski.

But, Khan told German media Sport1, “If we don’t watch a young striker like Haaland, we’re not doing the right thing.” But the financial aspect is beyond our imagination,” he said, implying that he would not sign Haaland due to financial problems.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Lewandowski will also leave Munich. Lewandowski’s contract, which moved to Munich from Dortmund in July 2014, expires the following season. Without a new contract signing, the only way for Munich to profit financially from the sale of Lewandowski is to sell it after the season is over. Currently, Barcelona are strongly linked with Lewandowski.

“Lewandowski is currently under contract with us. We are in contact with him right now. We want him to stay in Munich for as long as possible,” Khan said. “Some people seem to think this is an online manager game. “Lewandowski has become the best player in the world with us, scoring 30-40 goals every season. He can achieve that every season.”

“Of course, players like him sometimes think to try something else. It takes time to convince them. You have to consider the financial aspects as well. Munich has been through the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years so we don’t know how to manage the club. You have to think about it,” he added.
