You said you were reducing your military activities… “Russian forces attack all night”|Morning & World

[앵커]

Yesterday (30th), I delivered the news that the 5th peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia have advanced rapidly. Isn’t it easy to end a war in one day? Today, negative signs that do not meet expectations are appearing one after another. Let’s take a look at reporter Ahn Eui-geun, who is in charge of in-depth coverage of international diplomacy and security in Morning & World.

Russia said it was going to cut military activity, but there are movements that aren’t showing up everywhere?

Russia has clearly stated that it will shift the focus of its military activities from Kiiu and Chernivu to Donbas.

“The enemy has been attacking Chernivu all night and raiding the nearby city of Nijin,” said Viacheslau Chaus, the governor of Chernivu, sarcastically saying Russia’s promise was unbelievable, according to Reuters.

There was no bombardment in the capital, Kiiu, but it is said that the fighting continued.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense said that special military operations in Ukraine were continuing, saying that missiles destroyed large fuel depots in Khmelnitsky and Starokonstantinu west of Kiiu.

“From these storages, fuel was supplied to Ukrainian military armored vehicles in the eastern Donbas region,” he said.

The Ukrainian side said that a referendum to approve an agreement with Russia could be held only after Russian troops withdrew to their pre-aggression positions.

Although the 5th peace negotiations between the two sides have raised hopes for the end of the war, this is a part that shows that there is still a long way to go.

In the midst of this, there are mixed observations about the cause of the explosion in the Russian side of the ammunition depot?

[기자]

There were explosions and fires, but there are mixed interpretations as to what caused them.

A fire and explosion occurred at an ammunition depot in Belgorod, southwestern Russia on the 29th local time.

“A fire broke out in an ammunition depot. The situation is under control,” the Belgorod governor said.

However, a Belgorod disaster authority official told TAS news agency, “The shells exploded and wounded four soldiers.”

Belgorod is a Russian border city located only 80 km from Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Europe’s economy is in great trouble as the war has been going on for over a month, isn’t it?

Germany, which relies heavily on Russian gas, is being hit hard.

An early warning was issued for the gas emergency supply plan yesterday.

This alert is said to be the first of a three-level alert.

A little while ago, Putin had told German Chancellor Scholz that next month’s payments would continue to be made in euros.

It remains to be seen whether the gas supply shortage can be alleviated.

In Germany, consumer prices rose 7.3% this month from a year earlier.

This is said to be the highest level in 40 years since 1981, when the Iran-Iraq war was in full swing.

Meanwhile, the foreign ministers of China and Russia met.

[기자]

This is the first meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries since Russia invaded Ukraine.

Wang Yi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister in charge of foreign affairs, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Anhui Province, China, and hoped to advance the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Let’s listen to the words of a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

[왕원빈/중국 외교부 대변인 : 중국과 러시아의 협력에는 한계가 없습니다. 양국이 평화를 위해 노력하고 안보를 지키고 (미국) 패권에 반대하는 데는 제한이 없습니다.]

Although President Biden warned of China’s support for Russia, it seems that the two countries are once again expressing their will to solidify cooperation in the face of US hegemony.
