The collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. Near the intersection of Armour Boulevard and Tracy Avenue. According to the Kansas City Police Department, a marked patrol SUV, described as a blue Ford Explorer, was traveling east on Armour Boulevard in a non-emergency situation.
Police reported that the girl ran into the roadway from between two parked vehicles just east of Tracy Avenue. The front right side of the SUV struck the juvenile, throwing her to the pavement.
The girl was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Her condition was later updated to serious but stable. Authorities have not released the age of the child.
Two officers were inside the patrol vehicle at the time of the incident. neither officer was injured. The Kansas City Police Department stated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
