Rajshahi Cyber ​​Tribunal Judge Md. Ziaur Rahman announced the verdict.

The name of the sentenced youth is Shahabul Islam (27). He is the son of Bajlur Rahman of Keshabpur area of ​​Lalpur upazila of Natore district.

Ismat Ara, the lawyer for the state side of the tribunal, told Ajker newspaper that Shahabul opened a fake ID on Facebook in the name of Roksana Mortaza Lilly, mayor of Gopalpur municipality of Natore. Then in the month of October 2020, he started posting obscene words and pictures on Facebook from a fake ID. When the matter came to notice, the mayor himself filed a case at Lalpur police station.

Lawyer Ismat Ara also said that as the crime of Digital Security Act against the accused Shahabul Islam has been proved beyond doubt, he has been found guilty and sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of one lakh taka. Imprisonment for another 3 months without labor in non-payment and imprisonment for another year in the other section and a fine of one lakh rupees, imprisonment for another 3 months without labor in non-payment. The accused was present in the court when the verdict was announced. Later he was sent to jail.
