Yuki Tsunoda, crash with Stroll “was not my responsibility” F1 Qatar GP press conference[F1-Gate .com]

Yuki Tsunoda of AlphaTauri Honda F1 thinks that his contact with Lance Stroll at the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix is undeniable and that the 10-second penalty is a mistake.

On the 4th lap of the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda struck the inside of Lance Stroll on Turn 1, but the two came into contact. Steward penalized a 10-second penalty and two penalty points, blaming Yuki Tsunoda for this contact.

Lance Stroll, whose front wing was damaged by contact, also accused Yuki Tsunoda of being “sick and optimistic.”

Yuki Tsunoda admitted that the overtaking was risky, but pointed out that Lance Stroll had not confirmed the mirror. “I think the 10-second penalty is ridiculous,” he said.

At a press conference at the F1 Qatar Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda said, “I don’t think it’s my fault.”

He also cited Daniel Ricciardo, who came into contact with Valtteri Bottas on the opening lap of the F1 Mexican Grand Prix, as an example.

“I think 10 seconds is too harsh. I think 5 seconds is tougher than the contact with Bottas on Turn 1 of the first lap of the Mexican Grand Prix,” said Yuki Tsunoda.

“I didn’t lock the tires (unlike Ricardo). I stayed on the curb on the inside and I didn’t have the space.”

“There was nowhere to go, and for some reason Stroll took the normal line and closed the door.”

“As a result, there was a collision and I suffered a lot of damage to the car. I still think it wasn’t my fault at all.”
