Zhou Guanyu, Alfa Romeo F1 team remains rich in 2023[F1-Gate .com]

Alfa Romeo F1 seems ready to continue Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese F1 driver, in 2023.

Previously, it was thought that Alfa Romeo F1 was likely to promote the team’s favorite junior driver, 18-year-old Théo Pourchelle, to Valtteri Bottas’ teammate in 2023.

However, both Auto Motor und Sport (Germany) and Blick (Switzerland) have reported that Zhou Guanyu has done enough work to convince team representative Frederick Vasul that he deserves an extension.

“Usually for a rookie, you always have to consider one or two crashes,” Alfa Romeo F1 team manager Beat Zehnder told Silverstone.

“But Zhou hasn’t made any mistakes in practice. Experience has shown that a crash may occur at some point, but it’s also part of the learning process.”

Beat Zehnder said Alfa Romeo F1 will not expel Zhou Guanyu after a season.

“He’s definitely one of the best rookies we’ve ever experienced on our team,” said Beat Zender.
