Zip line opens at West Virginia state park

PIPESTEM, W.Va. (AP) – A zip line course is open at western state park of West Virginia.

The new attraction opened last week at the State Resort Pipestem Park in Summers County.

The State Department of Commerce states in a news release that the 1.5 mile (2.4 kilometers) journey allows candidates to go up speeds of up to 50 mph (80 kph) above the National Scenic Hill of Knockglass. At the end of the journey, riders return on the field tram.

ACE Adventure Holiday works the zip line, which is part of $ 11 million in park restoration. Pipestem is making improvements to its cabin, accommodation, camp enclosures, water treatment facility and tram.

The project is funded by state bonds which last year approved the Legislature.
