META MARK Zuckerberg announced yesterday (January 25) allowing former US President Donald Trump to return to Facebook and Instagram Once again after he was banned for almost two years following the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol.
CNBC reported on Wednesday (January 25) that META’s president of global relations affairs, Nick Clegg, announced the decision on Wednesday in a blog post Former US President Donald Trump will be able to use Facebook and Instagram again.
“Normally we don’t want to block openness. publicity and democratic debate on the META platform. Especially in the context of elections in a democratic society like the United States,” Clegg said.
and went on to say “The public deserve to hear what their politicians have to say, be it good, bad or disgusting. so they can make informed decisions at the polling place.”
CNBC News reports that social media giants including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are ready to ban Trump from using the platform following January 2021 to disrupt the process and lead to one death. There can be provocations that lead to violence that escalates.
In Clegg’s statement, he reiterated that “Just like any other user on Facebook or Instagram. Mr. Trump needs to follow our community standards. “
and went on to say “If Mr. Trump posting offensive material in the future. The content will be removed and will be banned for anywhere between one month and two years depending on the severity of the offence.”
He revealed his decision to ban Trump. “It is an incredible decision made under exceptional circumstances,” and META has verified that it is still reasonable to extend the two-year ban beyond the original ban.
CNBC said that since the former US president was banned from US social media, He connects with political supporters through the Truth Social app, which is similar to the Twitter platform.
The Truth Social platform is owned by former California Republican congressman Devin Nunes, while the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, has issued an order to lift the ban on Trump. But CNBC News reports that it may not be back in action.
