Capacitive touch technology specialist Zytronic (Headquarters: Newcastle, UK) installed around 40 in a second custom laser bonding system that has just been installed in another factory’s clean room, located at the headquarters factory, and announced that it has invested 10,000 GBP (about 62 million Japanese). Yen) Note and has successfully mitigated risk and compatible production capacity across its UK manufacturing operations. This laser welding system was jointly developed by Zytronic’s technology, quality and production teams with Industrial Vision Systems, a global provider of highly accurate visual inspection technology and factory equipment automation.
With this new automated system, Zytronic uses the latest production technology to increase productivity, increase yield and increase manufacturing capacity. The device combines 2D camera vision with precision drives and custom software to precisely and seamlessly bond the controller’s flex tail to the touch sensor. With this device, Zytronic is able to complete the critical soldering process for glass and Capacitive Projected (PCAP) film touch sensors, regardless of size or design, in small batches and in record time now possible .
Mark Cambridge, Managing Director of Zytronic, said: “This investment in next generation laser bonding equipment will help us continue to drive higher yields and faster throughput. was developed separately several years ago. It complements the system we have installed in our cleanroom and reduces the risks associated with having only one laser bonding system available for production.”
Earl Yardley, Director of Industrial Vision Systems, said: “We are delighted to have completed our collaboration with Zytronic. This new production cell combines all the latest automation know-how for precision laser joining with closed-loop vision control. It’s a very important technology, and it’s a very exciting project that will accelerate Zytronic’s touchscreen manufacturing capabilities and flexibility.”
Continued investment in touchscreen manufacturing operations in the UK will allow Zytronic to take full advantage of new opportunities as its global customer base recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Combining state-of-the-art CNC and vision-based automation, laser welding machines are considered the cutting edge tools of the future in manufacturing technology. The machine’s software incorporates operator and material tracking, with data automatically stored in Zytronic’s manufacturing and quality control system. This capability enables statistical process control and data archiving for customer assurance and product tracking after projected capacitive touch sensors are used in self-service, industrial and commercial applications worldwide.
