Hong Kong’s major retail chains are offering store-wide discounts of 12 percent off, with select items as low as HK$2.8 and promotional vouchers valued up to HK$140, as part of a coordinated promotional campaign across Wellcome, ParknShop, Mannings, and Watsons.
The promotion, which began in mid-April 2026, applies to a broad range of goods including groceries, personal care, health supplements, and household essentials. Shoppers can receive instant savings at checkout without the need for membership or minimum purchase thresholds in most cases, although some branches impose conditions such as minimum spends to qualify for additional vouchers.

The discount, advertised as “88 off” — a local term meaning 12 percent off — is being promoted through in-store signage, social media, and retail apps. ParknShop has highlighted specific deals such as HK$2.8 for selected frozen desserts and instant noodles, while Mannings emphasizes its promotion on skincare and health products, offering additional savings when purchases reach HK$188.
Watsons has extended its discount to both physical stores and its online platform, allowing customers to receive the same savings regardless of purchase channel. The company confirmed that its online store mirrors the in-store promotion, with automatic application of the discount at checkout for eligible items.
Industry analysts note that such broad-based discounting across multiple major retailers is uncommon outside of traditional seasonal sales periods, suggesting a response to ongoing pressure on consumer spending power. The Hong Kong Retail Management Association reported in March 2026 that average household discretionary spending had declined for the third consecutive quarter, prompting retailers to adjust pricing strategies to maintain foot traffic.
While the promotions are framed as customer appreciation initiatives, they also serve to clear inventory and stimulate demand in a competitive retail environment. All four chains operate under larger corporate parents: Wellcome and ParknShop under Jardine Matheson Holdings, Mannings under the Dairy Farm International Holdings Ltd., and Watsons under CK Hutchison Holdings Limited.
No official end date has been announced for the current discount round, though similar promotions in past years have typically lasted between one and two weeks. Retailers may extend or repeat the offer based on sales performance and inventory levels.
