okay,here’s a breakdown of the projected Canadian World Junior Championship (WJC) roster based on the provided text. I’ll categorize it by position and highlight key takeaways.
Forwards
* Top Line/Key Players:
* Macklin Celebrini: (Clearly the star, expected to be a top NHL pick)
* Tanner Howe: (High-end skill, two-way ability)
* Antoine Desnoyers: (Good two-way player, hockey sense, injury history)
* Justin Carbonneau: (Shooter, speed, power play potential)
* Ethan martin: (Disruptive, still productive offensively)
* Grinding/Two-Way Forwards:
* Jaxon Iginla: (Scores, works hard)
* Alex Luchanko: (NHL experience, two-way)
* Quentin Beaudoin: (Strong, productive in Barrie)
* maxim Boisvert: (Toolsy forward)
* Adam Reschny: (Playmaker, potential to move up the lineup)
* William Lindstrom: (Good fit deeper in the lineup, production a concern)
Defensemen
* Top Pairings:
* Kashawn Aitchson (NYI) – Zayne Parekh (CGY)
* Keaton Verhoeff (2026) – harrison Brunicke (PIT)
* Bottom Pairing:
* Ben Danford (TOR) – Jackson Smith (CBJ)
* Extra/Potential Replacement:
* Cameron Reid (NSH) – Charlie Elick (CBJ)
* Also Considered: Xavier Villeneuve (2026), Owen Protz (MTL), Spencer Gill (PHI), Landon Dupont (2027), Tarin Smith (ANA)
Key Observations & Uncertainties
* Parekh’s Status: His availability is a question mark. Calgary’s usage of him is low, suggesting he could be loaned to Canada and then potentially return to the OHL for strength growth. If he stays in Calgary, Xavier Villeneuve is a likely replacement to add puck-moving ability.
* Brunicke’s Situation: Pittsburgh might prefer Brunicke continue developing in the WHL, making him a lock for the canadian team if available.
* Dickinson & Schaefer: Both are currently in the NHL and unlikely to be available. Dickinson could be loaned, but it’s not expected.
* Verhoeff’s Draft Stock: keaton Verhoeff is projected as a very high pick in the 2026 NHL Draft (top 3).
* Size & Skill on Defense: The defense features a good mix of size, mobility, and hockey sense, notably with Aitchson, verhoeff, and Smith.
